Note: in every belt color there are four stripes. So if you were awarded a blue belt, on your next graduation, you would be awarded blue belt one stripe, then two stripes and so on. After the fourth stripe you will be awarded your purple belt. Of course there are situations when a teacher will award two stripes or just belts. But in general this picture represents the grading structure in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.
